Portable Diablo v1.09

What is this game?

Diablo is a dark fantasy-themed action role-playing game developed by Blizzard North and released by Blizzard Entertainment on January 2, 1997.

Set in the fictional Kingdom of Khanduras (located in the Diablo series fantasy world of Sanctuary), Diablo has the player take control of a lone hero as he or she battles to rid the world of the eponymous Lord of Terror. Beneath the town of Tristram, the player journeys through sixteen dungeon levels to ultimately come face to face with Diablo and his demon minions.

Does this really need an introduction?

Let's try this!
Thanx a lot man!

by the way, all torrent links are linked to your Fallout 2 torrents, you should correct this ;)

Thanks for that!
I seem to have forgotten =)

Hello

Thanks for your work !

You should also try to use the latest patch for diablo II (1.12a) which removes the cd-check.

So it becomes easier to use it portably ;)

Does this work on Bnet?

Thanks for all you've released so far :-D If you're taking suggestions, I know a game that wouldn't be hard to make portable. The original Unreal Tournament. It would even have UnrealEd included so you could make levels on the go :)

Milo said...

This will most likely not work work on battle.net. However, I'm not sure.

Unreal Tournament is a game I'm planning to do. I really enjoyed 2003 and especially 2004; never played the original, though.

By the way...
Is Hellfire included?

Oh man, UT2k4 would be even better :-D I just figured the original because it's much smaller in file size, therefor much easier to make portable. If you can pull off 2004 though, more power to ya!

Hellfire is not included...
But I'm looking at it. =)

I'll just leave it at that!

oh my...

it was diablo and not diablo II.
Sorry for this mistake.

Excellent work though :P !

Do you know the forums at portableapps.com ?
You might find interesting tools to help you build portable launchers ;)

Another handful of suggestions. The Gothic trilogy, Call of Cthulhu, Marathon, Half-Life (even if just a portable launcher), Oddworld 1 and 2, any classic Lucas Arts game...etc :)

I downloaded the file, but I have absolutely no idea how to make it work.

Help?

Milo said...

1. Unzip the .7z file wherever you want.
2. Double-click Portable Diablo.exe
3. Enjoy =)

keep up the good work!

thanks!

I'm freaking enjoying these games man, you rock!

Quick question, is it possible to run these in a window?

Thanks

Milo said...

It all depends on the game itself. I can't seem to find anything on this, sorry!

Just to warn everyone who might be in doubt:

Works Great!

Thanks, dude, you made my life much much easier and funnier.

I'm going to keep checking the site for new releases alot, and I'll help seed torrents now and then, but I was wondering, might you do Diablo 2 and it's latest patch, 1.12a? That would be awesome!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the launcher!

I copied these 5 files from Hellfire to the App\Diablo folder, and Hellfire runs fine:

hellfire.exe
hellfire.mpq
Hellfrui.dll
hfmonk.mpq
hfmusic.mpq

Can you make a launcher for hellfire.exe? I will send you the files if you need them.

Will this work over a LAN?

Anonymous said...

Can you post it on Rapidshare ? Or will you let me to ?

Anonymous said...

any way to play this on a wireless LAN?

DaVince said...

I take it that, since you made two torrents on two different trackers, they both contain eachother's tracker too? It'd make sense at least.

Anyway, thanks for this! Diablo is a nice game and it being portable means that I can play it in more places.

DaVince said...

anonymous: once you're connected to the wireless LAN, any application would just recognize it as "LAN". Meaning that if your game supports LAN games, WLAN is automatically supported too.

It's just a mess finding other peoples' IPs and connecting to those. Use ipconfig in the commandline.

over lan this game is ipx so you have to enable it on your network device if it is not already,.. dunno if bnet still supports diablo1.

Hey Milo, I downloaded the portable launcher, extracted it and ran it. I transfered my install directory into apps\\diablo but it still needs the cd to run data. How can I get the data into the folders to make it portable, what do I edit in the reg file? cheers

there is a portable version of diablo II (without Lord of Destruction expasion pack, though) to download...

I dont get it to work over lan. IPX-devices have been installed and land games usually work flawlessly.

Installed this but it still continues to keep asking for the cd> i am using an Acer Aspire one. So i dont even have the cd drive. What am i doing wrong??

Can we ever expect Hellfire?
